Mary Kornick is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) with a master’s degree in Counseling for Mental Health & Wellness from New York University. She has an extensive history in understanding the many different presentations of obsessive-compulsive behaviors, ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, and tic disorders, and the overlap between these conditions. She also has several years’ experience as a parent educator, particularly with new parents of twins and multiples, and is a Certified Dementia Practitioner with several years’ experience with residents and their families in memory care. She is LGBTQ+ allied and enjoys working with and advocating for this community. Her current clinical focus is in working with adolescents, teens, and adults.

Mary’s person-centered and integrative approach is informed by humanistic, psychodynamic, interpersonal, and neurobiological models. She believes first and foremost that her clients deserve a safe and non-judgmental space. Because she believes our struggles can be a combination of multiple factors including genetics, environment, experiences, relationships, lifestyle, biological influences, cultural considerations, etc., and that these all impact how our brain becomes wired, she believes it is important to look at each client holistically. She is collaborative with her clients in tailoring treatments to their individual needs in order to reach their goals. She utilizes evidenced-based treatments including CBT, ERP, mindfulness, DBT-informed and trauma-informed approaches in order to build new, positive neural pathways in the brain. She enjoys helping her clients identify their strengths and motivations and finding ways to capitalize on these in creative ways in treatment. She is passionate about music of all genres, and loves to connect with her clients through their musical interests.

Mary is a professional member of the American Counseling Association, NJ Counseling Association, and the International OCD Foundation.
