Whitney Curry, LPC, ACS
Where meaningful clinical work meets the power of play to foster growth in children and harmony in families.
Specialized Care for Our Youngest Clients
Whitney believes that for therapy to be effective for children, it must be an environment where they can be themselves. With a Master’s from Fairleigh Dickinson University and extensive experience in Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Partial Care settings, Whitney specializes in working with children as young as three years old. She understands that for a preschooler or adolescent, therapy should be more than emotional management—it should be an opportunity to play and have fun while engaging in the intensive work of personal and familial change.
A Collaborative Bridge for Families
Whitney’s approach is deeply integrative, utilizing Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Solution-Focused techniques. She views the family as a team, providing the "scaffolding" and support parents need to navigate their child's developmental challenges. As an Approved Clinical Supervisor, Whitney ensures that her practice is grounded in the latest evidence-based research, helping families move from high-stress dynamics toward a place of playful connection and sustainable success.
Clinical Focus:
Early Childhood Intervention: Specialized therapy for children ages 3–6, utilizing play to support behavioral and emotional development.
Intensive Youth Support: Drawing on her background in Partial Care and IOP to support adolescents facing significant mental health challenges.
Parental Scaffolding & Collaboration: Empowering parents with the tools to support their child’s therapeutic goals at home.
Developmental Play: Integrating fun and creative expression into clinical work to increase engagement and reduce resistance in young clients.
Play-Infused, Developmental, & Scaffolding-Focused Supervision
With a career built in the high-energy environments of Partial Care and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) settings, Whitney’s supervision provides a collaborative, youth-centric partnership for clinicians. She prioritizes the power of play as a primary clinical tool, moving away from traditional "office" dynamics to meet the child and the supervisee exactly where they are. Whitney acts as a "clinical scaffold" for her associates, providing the sturdy support and evidence-based structure needed to handle the developmental challenges of the youngest clients and their families.
Supervisory Style:
Early Childhood Specialization: Whitney offers a specialized supervisory space focused on the preschool-to-primary years. She mentors clinicians in the art of using play as a diagnostic language, helping them move past traditional talk therapy to reach children who communicate best through movement and creativity.
Intensive Youth Mentorship: Drawing on her background in higher-acuity care, Whitney provides a safety net for clinicians working with adolescents facing significant mental health hurdles. She guides supervisees in maintaining clinical rigor while fostering the authentic, real-world connections that reduce resistance in teens.
The Family Team Approach: Whitney focuses on Parental Scaffolding, helping supervisees move beyond seeing the child in isolation to coaching the family as a cohesive unit. She empowers clinicians with the specific tools needed to help caregivers sustain therapeutic progress at home.
Integrative & Research-Grounded Growth: Supervision with Whitney integrates CBT, Person-Centered, and Solution-Focused techniques. She ensures her supervisees remain grounded in the latest developmental research, helping them build a professional identity that is as playful as it is clinically sophisticated.
