Integrating clinical excellence with community leadership to restore respect, boundaries, and health to families in transition.

A Leader in Morris County Mental Health

Cheryl Garodnick brings over two decades of high-level clinical and administrative expertise to her practice in Morristown. A graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University with a specialization in Addictions, Cheryl holds an elite array of international and state certifications, including the ICCS. Her career is marked by distinguished service; she was appointed by the Morris County Board of Chosen Commissioners to lead the Mental Health Addictions Services Advisory Board and serves on the Opioid Advisory Council, directing critical settlement funding to save lives across the county.

Restoring Family Harmony & Personal Dignity

Cheryl specializes in the "difficult intersections" of life—where substance use meets domestic abuse, or where co-dependency interferes with healthy parenting. She is a dedicated member of the Superior Court Domestic Violence Working Group, providing an informed lens for families navigating legal and emotional upheaval. Cheryl also offers specialized support for postpartum transitions, helping new mothers navigate the profound shift into parenthood. Her approach is interactive and practical, providing the feedback necessary to move from crisis to a life defined by personal growth and mutual respect.

Clinical Focus:

  • Dually Diagnosed & Co-Occurring Disorders: Support for complex cases involving both mental health concerns and substance use.

  • Domestic Abuse & Legal Navigation: Providing specialized support for survivors and families within the framework of the Superior Court districts.

  • Postpartum & Maternal Mental Health: Guiding women through the emotional and behavioral shifts of the postpartum period.

  • Co-Dependency & Boundary Work: Helping individuals and couples break cycles of unhelpful coping while building respect and open communication.

  • Clinical Supervision: Supportive, growth-oriented supervision for clinicians building confidence, skill, and professional identity.

Cultivating Clinical Intuition and Mastery in Supervision

Cheryl’s supervisory style is interactive and practical, designed for clinicians who want to specialize in the "difficult intersections" of life. She specializes in the nuanced management of dually diagnosed disorders and the legal upheaval of domestic abuse cases. Her goal is to help supervisees move beyond textbook theory to develop a sophisticated clinical lens—one that prioritizes respect, firm boundaries, and personal dignity. Whether you are navigating the emotional shifts of a client’s postpartum transition or the ethical complexities of forensic work, Cheryl provides the growth-oriented feedback necessary to build a resilient professional identity.

Supervisory Style:

  • Advanced Addictions & Dual-Diagnosis: Training clinicians to manage high-acuity cases where substance use and mental health concerns overlap.

  • Forensic & Legal Literacy: Guiding supervisees through the framework of the Superior Court districts and domestic violence advocacy.

  • Systemic Boundary Work: Teaching the mechanics of breaking co-dependency cycles and establishing "clinical authority" in family systems.

  • Maternal Mental Health Specialization: Expert oversight in treating postpartum transitions and the behavioral shifts of early parenthood.

  • Leadership & Professional Advocacy: Mentoring clinicians on how to engage with community task forces and advisory boards to drive systemic change.
