Maria Palamara is Licensed Associate Counselor and National Certified Counselor. She earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Montclair State University with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is continuing her education in the field of addictions. Maria has transitioned to a counseling career after a successful career in wireless technology and business.
Life-changing events can be tough...starting out on a new career; losing a job; evolving romantic relationships; becoming a parent; losing a partner, parent, or child; dealing with serious illness; caring for an aging relative, and so on. Such impactful events can drain your self-confidence, test your patience, and/or cause you to question who you really are or want to be. If this sounds like what you are experiencing, counseling can help you work through your emotional pain. Maria has worked with people of all ages dealing with career concerns, anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, grief and bereavement, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, anger issues, and trauma associated with domestic abuse. She works with both men and women in individual and group settings alike.
Every individual is unique, and Maria treats all her clients with unconditional regard and respect. She uses a family systems theoretical framework which helps clients understand their issues within a larger family and societal context. This helps them develop a more complete picture of situations and generate more realistic solutions. She uses techniques from many counseling orientations, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness to help clients in their healing journey.
