Blake Sloven is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). He earned his Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Towson University. Blake works with children, adolescents, adults, and families. He provides a comfortable, safe, supportive, and compassionate atmosphere, which helps his clients feel secure in exploring the obstacles preventing them from maximizing their full capabilities. He is dedicated to helping people find peace, security, and happiness in their lives and relationships.
Blake has five years of experience in a nonprofit counseling agency. He has worked as both a counselor and intensive counselor while running an intensive counseling program. Blake’s experience in the school system has allowed him to provide individual, group, and family counseling services. He has also worked with teachers, administrators, guidance counselors, and Child Study Team members. Blake’s knowledge has enabled his clients to identify their strengths, maladaptive defense mechanisms, and to form healthy coping strategies.
Blake takes a humanistic approach to counseling and uses an interpersonal model of therapy. He views the client/counselor relationship as the most important component of effective counseling. Blake utilizes interventions including cognitive behavioral therapy, existential therapy, play therapy, and family systems. He creates a unique therapeutic experience for each person he works with.
